Puppy Socialization and Exploration Class

$160 for 5 classes plus orientationPuppy Socialization

For puppies 8-12 weeks. This is a critical period of socialization and learning for dogs. The more positive experiences they have with dogs, people, and different environments the more confident they will be in the future. Classes include basic manners, socialization, and exploring novel stimuli.

  • Orientation on Tuesday evenings at 6:15 pm (humans only)
  • Classes on Wednesdays 6:30 – 7:30 pm OR Sunday’s 1:45pm-2:45pm
  • Veterinary exam, first set of vaccines including Bordetella and deworming is required

 

Puppy Foundation Class-Level 1

$160 for 5 classes

For puppies 12-24 weeks. This class will build on the puppy social skills and advance the basic manners taught in Puppy Socialization and Exploration class. Manners include but are not limited to: sit, down, recall, place, leash manners and a new trick every week!

  • Classes on Wednesdays & Thursdays,  7:45 – 8:45 pm OR Sundays 3:00 – 4:00 pm
  • Veterinary exam, first two sets of vaccinations including Bordetella and deworming is required
  • Companion Veterinary Clinic’s Puppy Socialization and Exploration Classes or one Private Training session is required

 

Puppy Play Time Class 1 and 2 (NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)

$10 every Sunday

For class 1: puppies 8-16 weeks.  11:00 am – 12:00 pm
For class 2: puppies 17-24 weeks.  12:15 pm – 1:15 pm

This is a socialization class in a fun, positive controlled environment.

  • Socialization with other puppies of the same age group
  • Learn about appropriate puppy play and canine body language
  • Fun and positive learning environment
  • Must have at least first set of vaccines (first two sets for level 2) including Bordetella and deworming

Puppy Distractions Class

$140 for four classes

For puppies 6 months and older or graduates of Puppy Foundations. This class is for dogs that know the basics yet struggle with focus, responding to cues when distracted, and working without visible rewards.We cover the basics of engaging with your dog, strategies for helping them succeed in distracting environments, increase focus, and reduce visible reinforcements. The goal of this class is to provide you and your dog with skills that continue to develop outside of the class environment.

Private Training Sessions

$85 per hour

  • Basic manners include but not limited to: Sit, Down, Place, Touch, and Focus work on leash

 

Trick Training

$125 for 3 classes

This class is explores the foundations of trick training. Learn some fun and exciting tricks to add to your dog’s training routine and provide some excellent mental stimulation for your dog. 10 tricks in total are covered.

  • Tuesdays at Companion Veterinary Clinic, 7:00-8:00 pm
  • Dogs should have basic manners including sit, down, place, and leash work.
  • Your dog must be up to date on vaccinations including Bordetella
  • Maximum 5 spots per class

 

Nosey Canine Scent Detection (NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)


$175 for 5 classes plus orientation

This class is for taking the “find-it” game to the next level! Scent detection is a fun and practical activity for you and your dog that develops their natural capabilities, as well as exercises their mind as they search for hidden items.

  • Mondays at Companion Veterinary Clinic, 6:30 – 7:30 pm
  • Your dog must have a marker word or be clicker conditioned
  • Must be up to date on vaccinations including Bordetella

 

Precision Heeling (NOT AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME)


$175 for 5 classes

This class is for those who have dreamed of moving in perfect harmony with their dog focused by their side. Precision heeling is a fundamental skill for all dog obedience sports (Rally-O, Schutzhund, CKC obedience) and a unique way to show off the bond between you and your dog. No previous experience in formal obedience is required.

  • Sundays at Prairie Grooming and Training, 9523 42 Ave. NW, 12:00 – 1:00 pm
  • Your dog must have a marker word or be clicker conditioned
  • Must be comfortable around other dogs and people in a group class setting
  • Must be up to date on vaccinations including Bordetella

Adult Distractions Class

$140 for four classes

For dogs with basic leash manners and that are able to sit and down on cue. This class is for dogs that know the basics yet struggle with focus, responding to cues when distracted, and working without visible rewards.We cover the basics of engaging with your dog, strategies for helping them succeed in distracting environments, increase focus, and reduce visible reinforcements. The goal of this class is to provide you and your dog with skills that continue to develop outside of the class environment.

Training Your Teenager-Basic Manners

$160 for 5 classes 

This class is for dogs that missed out on puppy class and for dogs and older puppies that need to brush up on manners as well as preparation for the Distractions classes. Your dog will learn basic manners and foundation behaviours such as sit, down, touch, place, and loose leash walking. There will also be a trick between weeks 2-5, a socialization component and discussion of common behaviour issues.

  • Mondays at Companion Veterinary Clinic, 7:15 -8:15 pm
  • Must be up to date on vaccinations including Bordetella

Veterinary-Directed Behaviour Modification

  • Behaviour cases including but not limited to: Fear, Anxiety, Separation Anxiety, Aggression, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders
